April 1999

April 30, 1999 Welcome to my hissy fit: Dammit, dammit, dammit!!!! The f*%#@!!! library closed at FIVE today! I just went to pick up my copy of "Mr. Pye", all excited and all, only to find the bloody place CLOSED!!! Bloody, bloody, bloody! I was really looking forward to reading that book, then re-watching the show, and finding out what's the deal with the goat, and the apples, and is the great pal supposed to be God??!!! Aaaarrrrggg!!! Sigh . . .I hate the thought of driving all the way back over here tomorrow to pick it up, but I doubt I'll be able to wait until Monday to get it! I would've gone at noon if I'd know they closed so early! I mean, I know they close early on Friday, but I thought they'd at least be open until 5:30!!! Oh, well. Gee, I feel better now that I got that out! Maybe I'll go surf the web for something on Mr. Pye. See ya! :-)

April 27, 1999 Well, I managed to make it to the gym tonight! I was perilously close to talking myself out of going, but go I did, and I'm so glad! I know I was going to start walking down there, since it's so nice out, and stays light so late, but I wussed out and drove instead. Oh, well. The place was quite empty when I first got there, but all the treadmills were taken, so I had to use a stair-stepper instead. Actually, I quite liked it. I did 30 minutes. I know you're supposed to only do 20, but, there were no other people there waiting for a machine, so I just kept going. It was a good work-out!

April 25, 1999 Well, I didn't make it to I, Madonnari again this year. I know it's really cool, and I would like to see the chalk drawings, but I just wasn't in the mood to drive all the way back to SLO. So I just stayed home and stamped. I did get my Mother's Day Cards done, so I feel quite a sence of accomplishment, but I was hoping to do some more gardening samples for Stampa Barbara's new contest! And, it was a nice day, so I feel guilty for not going out and enjoying it. Oh, well!

April 24, 1999 Well, it's been a hell of a week! First, there was the shooting at the high school in Colorado. Then over the past couple of days, police found the two girls who were missing from SLO. Although you know in your heart there's no way they could possibly still be alive, it still comes as a shock to find they are dead. Luckily, the police also have in custody the son-of-a-bitch who killed them! I'm hoping and praying they are being VERY careful with their investigation so there are no technicalities he can get off on! This guy apparently lived a few streets up from where I live before moving to Davis Canyon. I was living alone during that time, and used to go walking after work down by the street where he lived. I know nothing happened, so there's no reason to freak out over "what might have been", but it's still kind-of creepy!

Mom and I walked down to the Sunken Garden this morning where they were holding a large swap meet. It was a beautiful day - not too cold, not too hot - perfect for the long walk. I saw a lot of Beanie Babies, but I didn't bring my wallet, so I couldn't buy anything. Good thing! Just layed around the house the rest of the day. It felt good!

April 20, 1999 Well, here's my first entry in my on-line journal, and I'm at a loss for words! There's been another shooting at a school, and this one's very bad. There are apparently a lot of people dead and hurt, and there are bombs, too, so no one can get in to help them. I am beside myself! My heart is broken!
