self-portrait

books i'm reading right now.
The Better Part of Valor by Tanya Huff. (Okay, to be honest, I haven't even touched this book, yet. It's still laying on my nightstand waiting to be picked up and read. I promise I'll try to get around to it soon, though why you would care, I don't know.)

classic book my friend jewel and i are currently reading.
Hamlet by Wil Shakespeare. (This one will be finished this weekend, then either next weekend, or the following weekend Jewel and I will start on Catcher in the Rye.)

music i'm currently listening to, or a list of my favourite cds.
I've been listening to Andrew W.K. a lot lately. I know it's not very . . . um, Christian, but the hard, throbbing, driving rock music is really what I'm in the mood for.

short stories, novels, or whatever writing project i'm currently working on.
Nothing. I'm just not motivated to write anything right now. Could be the Zoloft. I've heard where that can zap your motivation.

my favourite thing right now.
SoBe Green Tea.

what am i grateful for today?
It wasn't a real fire!

where there's smoke . . .

Sunday Morning Excitment

So we had a bit of excitement this morning when smoke was seen coming out of the cylinder head shop across the street. We were a bit concerned, because they keep several tanks of hydrogen over there for whatevertheheck it is they do over there. If there was a fire, those things could blow sky high, and take the entire neighbourhood with them. That would suck. I decided to get dressed, just in case we were evacuated.

Our neighbour across the street noticed the unusual sight as he was moving his truck, and called it in. Moments later, the fire truck showed up with a few firemen to check it out.

A couple of the firemen climbed over the fence, and walked around to see if the source of the smoke was behind the building or inside. Well, one of them climbed over; the young, skinny guy just squeezed through the gap in between the two metal gates.

In the meantime, the owner of the business had been contacted, and showed up about five minutes later. The firemen had been trying all the doors to find a way in, but were unsuccessful. Once the owner arrived and unlocked everything, everyone all went inside, and we were left waiting and watching as the smoke continue to spew out of the roof of the building. It was about five minutes later that everyone came casually walking back out. The owner waved farewell to the firemen, locked the place up, and left. The firemen climbed back over the fence (the bigger guy tried to squeeze through the gap, but couldn't, and had to scale the thing again. they were all kinda laughing at him, then the skinny guy got his turnouts caught on part of the fence as he tried to slip though the gap, and then they were all chuckling at him.), because, let's face it, they're way too macho to just walk through the darn thing when it's open, jumped back in their fire truck, and left.

Apparently, someone just forgot to shut something off yesterday. Someone's gonna get an earful tomorrow morning. About fifteen minutes later, the sun was out, and the smoke was gone, so I guess we're not going to die today after all. Yay!

Cheers!
