Weekend Update

Oh! That weekend went by way too quickly! I need at least two more days of resting, relaxation and fun before I'm ready to face a full week of work. Sadly, I won't be getting that for a while. I may need to take a Mental Day sometime next month, and just go away by myself for a bit. Or just sleep all day. Or something.

I guess I shouldn't really complain: our major landscaping project is finished, and we're not planning any more big projects this year; I got to sleep in both days; I got to go shopping; and I went to a really fun party Saturday night.

Saturday morning as we were getting ready for our walk up to Carlene's for coffee and a muffin, we noticed the people across the street having a yard sale. It's been a while since the woman who lived there passed away, and we've been wondering what was going to happen to all the stuff. Naturally, we had to go over there, and ended up getting some really great stuff: a small basket, a wheel barrow, a cow mug that moos, a 1994 Paso Robles Wine Festival glass and a Central Coast Wine Festival glass, a book on gardening, and a fantastic box. There were several other things I seriously considered, but in the end chose not to buy.

The walk up to Carlene's was nice, although it was getting a little hot. There were tons of wild flowers blooming, and naturally, I forgot my camera! Next weekend for sure, I promise!

When we got back, we did a quick grocery shopping trip, and then I had the rest of the day to relax, stamp, and get ready for the party.

The party was for an Attorney at the office who recently became engaged, and was held at an HH's house, which is why you're not getting any pictures except the one I took of myself, or anymore details other than this: It was a wonderful party - great food, wonderful company, and a very cute couple! The end.

On Sunday mom and I went shopping, and I found a great pair of dark brown pants at Target that match a shirt I've been wanting to wear to work, but haven't been able to because the only thing it looks good with is jeans. It works great with the brown pants, though, and the 20s were too big, but the 18s fit perfectly, so I got to buy the smaller size! Woo! Then I found three coloured T-shirts (light rosy pink, sage green, and dusty blue), also at Target, and two pair of new shoes at Ross. My mom found the perfect bed skirt at Target, and got some foam balls at Michael's for a new crafts project she's planning. The only thing we weren't able to find was a nice stone bench we want for our gravel and paving stone patio. I had been lusting over the one they've had at Target for the past couple years, but they didn't have it there this time. I don't know if they won't be carrying it anymore, or if it's just too early. Naturally when we didn't want/need it, it was everywhere. Now that we want/need it, we'll never find it!

The only thing that annoyed the crap out of me was the hunt for the mole killer. There is apparently no perfect way to kill/get rid of a mole. It's much easier to kill a gopher, since they eat plants, and you can just poison the plants. Moles eat bugs, which is actually quite nice and helpful, but they tend to tunnel all over, and ruin your lawn. So far, our mole (yes, we've determined it's a mole living in our front yard not a gopher, because the mounds aren't very big, and the plants haven't been touched.) is only tunneling along the edge of the lawn, which is fine, since it needed to be edged anyway. However, moles never travel alone, and it's only a matter of time before they start going in and tunneling under the lawn. So, after looking in several Home and Garden stores, we found some Scoot Mole! mole repellant, and I sprayed it on the front lawn last night. We're going to have to be patient, as it can take up to two weeks to send the mole packing, but at least we're getting on it right away.

So, that's it, and now it's time to get back to work!

Cheers!
Hez
