The Final Adventure of the Three Musketeers

I got together with my friends DeeDee and Pammy Sue yesterday to do a little wine tasting, and generally just hang out together for what will likely be the last time for a long time. DeeDee is moving to Oregon on Tuesday, and although we're planning on getting together again, God only knows when that will be.

We started out at the Tobin James winery. The tasting room is a saloon-style place, and yesterday, it was packed! Instead of "bellying up to the bar," we were relegated to the cash wrap. Still, the wine flowed, and we were soon able to secure a spot at the actual bar.

The tasting room has many unique things to look at such as this massive magnum topped with a white cowboy hat (a matching on the opposite end of the bar sported a black hat!), this interesting antique gas pump, and this bizarre wine bottle holder:

Like the Horsey winery, Tobin James had a canine mascot as well, and although I never got the puppy's name, it sure was cute!

After making our purchases at Tobin James, we headed up to Laura's Vineyard. I have always enjoyed Laura's Chardonnay, but was really looking forward to trying the White Zinfandel, after listening to Pammy and DeeDee rave about it. Sadly, they were sold out of the White Zin, but they did have a nice red Zinfandel, as well as their wonderful Chardonnay.

We ended our winery tour at the Horsey winery, mostly so DeeDee and I could pick up some more of their great wine, and also because Pammy had never been there. I snagged a bottle of "Wet Dog Red" and a box of Wise Crackers and a box of smoked salmon. DeeDee and I had dined on these during our previous visit, and I thought it would make an excellant quick dinner for myself and my mom last night. They had some of their shirts on clearance, and I found a nice olive green twill shirt I simply couldn't live without.

The end of the day came much too quickly, and soon we were all going our separate ways, heading home. I know I'll see DeeDee two more days before she leaves, and I'll probabaly see Pammy during the paralegal meeting on Wednesday, but this would be the last day the three of us - The Three Musketeers - would be able to hang out together. It was a wonderful day, and I'll cherish it.
