Out With the Old

Recently I realized I'm bored. Bored and tired of the stuff I have, and tired of my usual routine. So, I decided to shake things up a bit. Nothing really drastic, mind, just a few changes: some new hair colour, new shampoo and conditioner, and some new make-up. It's good to change things out every once in a while. All the experts tell you that.

First off, my hair. As hard as I try, I just can't love my hair. Most of the time I don't even like it. It's fine and limp and unexciting. I've been using the same Rosemary Mint shampoo and conditioner from Aveda almost this entire year, and I finally decided to put the still-half-empty gallon-sized containers under the sink and try something new. I picked up some Pantene Full Body shampoo and conditioner and have been using it for a week. It's . . . eh, it's okay. My hair is softer, but not much fuller or bodiful than it was before. (It's also ten times more staticy than usual, but that's due to the cold, dry weather, I'm sure.) I guess I'm just doomed to have fine, limp, boring hair. (GIR: I'm gonna sing the doom song now! Doom, doom, doom doom, doom, do doom doom doom! Doom do doom...)

Ahem, yes. Anyway, before the Christmas party last weekend, I coloured my hair again. I usually go for the temporary stuff like Clairol Natural Instincts, but this time I went with a permanent colour, hoping it would give me more fullness. I stuck with a red shade, but picked a brighter one than usual. Sadly, it didn't come out the same lovely shocking red as on the box, but at least my roots aren't obvious anymore, and there is a slight spring to it.

Next, my make-up. I've been using the Becca products I bought in San Diego back in August, and at first I loved it - the coverage is awesome, and the colour perfectly matches my skin! Lately, however, my skin has been extraordinarily shiny and greasy. Mostly due to hormones and the impending arrival of my Aunt Flo, I'm sure, but still, it's not good to be a shiny greasy mess by 9am. So, I'm on the hunt for new make up. I'm thinking of the Revlon Skinlights foundation I've used before. I really liked it, so I'm planning on picking some up this weekend and trying it out, and see if there's any change to my skin. I'm also thinking of trying some of that Proactiv Solution stuff you see on TV. I've been breaking out like a sixteen-year-old, and well, I'm not sixteen anymore. Then again, maybe having acne will make me look younger? Then again, it might just make me look like an old woman with acne.

So, anyway, yeah. Change. Change is good.

Cheers!
