1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
I went to Washington D.C., saw Giant Pandas and Koalas up close, and stayed at a Casino Resort where I gambled.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't keep a single one (I never do), but I plan on making some more for 2005. I'm either stupid or stubborn, I haven't decided which yet.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Two ladies at work had babies (one had twins!), and one of my best friends from High School had her third child. I managed to get through all of these without becoming insanely jealous or depressed. Bonus!
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My great-aunt (my grandmother's sister), and two great-uncles (my grandfather's brothers). My grandparents are pretty much the only ones left out of all their siblings. It's sad to think about, so I try not to think about it.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. I just stayed in my own country.
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
Clear skin. Sounds silly, I know, but c'mon! I'm in my thirties and I'm still getting breakouts! This year was the worst that I can recall - I've been getting breakouts on my back and chest, which I've never had before! Gah!
7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
My memory is very poor. I'd have to look through my archives for that. ;-)
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not losing my mind.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not losing weight.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I'm still dealing with my injured leg from the end of last year, but other than that, I've been pretty healthy (usual colds and flus and stuff, but nothing serious) and relatively injury-free.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A DVD player for my bedroom, so I can watch Invader Zim without annoying my mother.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Clay Aiken. He's such a sweetheart!
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Michael Moore.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Clothes, cosmetics, vacations, Cds, DVDs, & booze.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to Washington D.C.! Not only was it for JournalCon, which meant I would get to hang out with lots of my cool, online journalling friends, but I'd get to visit the nation's capitol and see the sights!
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
Silence Never Speaks by Jonah 33, the official song of Redeem the Vote.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? About the same, really.
b) thinner or fatter? A little bit fatter, I think, but only by a few pounds.
c) richer or poorer? A wee bit richer, only because I've paid off several credit cards, and can now start saving money.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Exercise.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Eating junk food.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Already spent it, with the family. Gah.
21. Did you fall in love in 2004?
No. But then again, I wasn't looking, so it's no great loss.
22. How many one-night stands?
None.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
The Amazing Race is my all-time favourite, but there is also Lost, and Danny Phantom.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate is such a strong word, and I'm really trying not to be so negative, but if anyone is deserving of my hatred this past year it was Michael Moore.
25. What was the best book you read?
Annie John by Jamaica Kincaid.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I don't know that I actually made a great musical discovery this year. I've mostly been listening to Christian music, and so have discovered bands like Barlow Girl and Tree63, but nothing really stands out for me.
27. What did you want and get?
Nothing. I really didn't want much this year.
28. What did you want and not get?
I wanted a cat, but since I never got to the allergist to get any medication, I didn't get the cat. It's my own fault. Maybe this coming year.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
I didn't actually see too many films this year. The Passion was awesome, for obvious reasons, but I think my favourite was Spiderman 2. Yeah, I'm probably going to hell for saying that, but eh. Whatever.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
You can read all about it here.
31.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I'd actually gotten off my lazy ass and lost some weight.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
I pretty much just bought whatever was popular and fit me. Most of my money went to Lane Bryant and Avenue, both of which had some really nice stuff this past year. I only hope they keep it up.
33. What kept you sane?
Prayer and reading the Bible.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I just love Clay Aiken. I can't help myself. He's adorable!
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
The gay marriage debate, and no, I'm not going to get into it here. I voted my conscious on the issue; that's all that matters.
36. Who did you miss?
I still miss HarleyGirl quite often.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
There wasn't just one person, there were many.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004.
Don't try to tell people when they're wrong, because they just get pissy at you.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I waited for you today
But you didn't show
No no no
I needed You today
So where did You go?
You told me to call
Said You'd be there
And though I haven't seen You
Are You still there?
(chorus) I cried out with no reply
And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone
And though I cannot see You
And I can't explain why
Such a deep, deep reassurance
You've placed in my life
We cannot separate
'Cause You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen (chorus)
Cheers!
