Finally!

Everything is finally coming together! The 2-drawer Q-bit I ordered from Target arrived today, and it's such a nice, solid, sturdy piece of furniture that I've deicded to go ahead and purchase all the pieces I need to create The Ultimate Bedroom Storage Unit! I am so excited! I wish the stuff would come NOW!!

Anyway, now the plan goes thusly: since I've already sorted through the CDs, the only thing I have left to do in my room is go through my closet and get rid of stuff - mostly shoes, but also some clothes from last year that I'm probably (read: hopefully) never going to wear again. Also, I need to clear off that top shelf so I can have some more storage space up there for bulky seasonal stuff like sweaters and extra blankets. The nightstand I'm currently using (which is really my old TV stand) needs to be emptied of all the magazines, catalogues and books I've accumulated, and removed (preferably to the garage or backyard), and my bed needs to be relocated to the opposite wall, leaving the wall where the Q-bits will go empty. Temporarily, anyway. Now that I've decided on the Q-bits, I think I'll go back to my original plan of painting that wall a darker blue. I picked up the paint strip that has my current wall colour on it, and there's a pretty blueberry colour which I think will look really good behind the stark white Q-bits unit.

Finding the time to actually do all of this is the only problem. I'm already taking extra time this weekend, plus Jewel and I are planning a vacation at the end of March. My Q-bits will probably arrive the first or second week of March, and I'll probably want to take an extra day or two to put all the items together. And paint. Gah!

AND, on top of all THAT, I have to spend a Saturday this month doing my taxes. Well, having the VITA kids do my taxes, but still, I'm having to spend a Saturday to get them done. *Sigh* So much to do, and so little time! This year has barely started, and I'm already running out of time. How sad is that? Very.

for what it's worth,
Hez

Reading: You've Got to Read This ed. by Ron Hansen. For next week we're reading: "Guy de Maupassant" by Isaac Babel, "Wants" by Grace Paley, and "Helping" by Robert Stone, as well as the three short stories submitted by classmates.

Classic Book: Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens.

Previously: Animal Farm by George Orwell.

Listening to: Big Daddy Weave, Nate Sallie, Kelly Clarkson, Casting Crowns.

Writing: I've picked up "False Memories" again. I figure it really doesn't matter what I throw together to submit - if it sucks, it sucks, and it's best to find out sooner rather than later. The point of the workshop is to find out what works and what doesn't in fiction, and to get ideas and suggestions on how to improve our own writing. Regardless of which piece I turn in, it's going to get ripped up one way and down the other. Nicely, of course, but ripped just the same. It's happened to everyone else, so it's my turn now. And, we don't have to submit a finished piece. Many other students have turned in unfinished work. Marc just asked that we say it's unfinished, so the end of the piece doesn't seem so abrupt.

Gratitude: Finally being able to make a decsion regarding my new bedroom furniture.
