Hello, Life! I'm Back!

Finally! After a month (actually over a month) of being sick and feeling crappy, listless, fatigued, unenergetic, and generally blah, my mom and I are finally feeling better. Last night we were able to eat a "real" meal of steamed broccoli, sliced cucumbers, baked, skinless chicken breast and brown rice. And it was delishous! It's been a long time since we've been able to stomach real, healthy, not-processed-to-death food. We are very relieved, but still pretty flummoxed over our mystery illness, which only attacked the four of us - my grandparents (who have recovered nicely, too), my mom and I - and which seemed to be a combination of the flu and a cold. Gah! Whatever. It's over now, and everyone survived, thank God. Now we can go on with our lives.

As for myself, I'm eating good again, drinking tons of water, and have been able to take my vitamins without feeling nauseous. I'm back at Curves three times a week, though I've been taking it easy on a couple of the machines (like the leg extension and the kick-back machine) while my injured leg continues to recoup. (Which, by the way, it is doing very well! The scraped up area, which will wind up being a lovely scar, I'm sure, is pretty much healed up now, and the swelling and abnormal bumps are also greatly improved, and by that I mean, significantly reduced or completely nonexistent. The ankle bracelet of a bruise is still there, but is also healing well. All-in-all, I got out of that whole incident really damn lucky.)

The best part is, I'm actually looking forward to working out, I'm looking forward to the weekly Saturday walks my mom and I [used to] take, and looking forward to getting started on The South Beach Diet again. Today was the first day I could really say that, despite the fact that I've been forcing myself to eat better and work out and generally get my life back to some semblance of normal for some time now. Feels good. Real good!

Cheers,
Hez
