Miscellaneous Update

I finally started getting my miscellaneous bits-n-pieces of writings organized. Last weekend I purchased a hanging file system for my file cabinet, and today I went through my old notebooks and stacks of loose paper. I ripped pages out that were scribbled on and shredded the ones I no longer need. Which was quite a bit! Three plastic grocery bags stuffed full of shredded paper. I could almost hear the trees scream.

But, it's done. I have about seven notebooks with just a few pages left in them, and will systematically stuff them in my purse or backpack or whatever, and carry them around with me till I've filled them up with more scribbles, and notes, and ideas, and snippets, then I can just toss them. I have an enormous collection of funky notebooks, which I really need to whittle down. No one needs fifty funky notebooks; no, not even me. I have promised myself I won't buy anymore blank books/notebooks until I've used up what I have. I swear on all that's holy! It's hard, though, because there's lots of funky new notebooks and blank books out there! BUT, I will resist.

It finally got hot this weekend. We've been enjoying some unseasonably cool weather so far this summer, but with the Mid-State Fair just around the corner, the Weather Gods decided it was time to hit the 100° mark again. Oh, joy! I keep meaning to spend the weekend afternoons outside in my newly refurbished hammock (thanks, mom!), but by the time I get all the chores and shopping done, it's just too hot. And, I'm too tired. It's also been abnormally windy this summer, which has made it impossible to do any bar-b-queing. Grr.

I think next weekend, I might need to go to the beach again. Pismo or Avila this time, I think. Someplace where I can plop down my beach towel and beach chair, and just sit and read, or watch the waves all day. I used to do that all the time when I first moved down here, and I really miss it. Of course, I had a lot more time on my hands then.
