V is for VAIO

At long last! I have found the notebook of my dreams! It's small. It's lightweight. It's easy to carry around. It's perfect for me: a writer on the road! Well, sometimes on the road. But, even if I don't travel as much as I wish I did, I still want this machine to take with me. You know. Just in case!

I found my new little sweetie at Best Buy this evening, after debating between it and a couple of the other laptops they had available. There are some really, really nice laptops out there! There's some with w i d e s c r e e n s for awesome DVD viewing and game playing, and others with tons of bells and whistles, which are basically designed to replace your everyday desk top. Hmm. Maybe. Someday . . .

Anyway, I finally just did a quick q & a in my head.

Q. What do you want to use the laptop for?
A. Writing on the road.

Q. Anything else?
A. Um. Oh, yeah! Photos! I want to be able to download photos off my digital cameras.

Q. And . . . ?
A. And, what? That's basically it: I want to be able to write anytime, anywhere - in a hotel room, a sidewalk cafe, a bench in the park - and not have a large piece of equipment taking up the whole table or being all cumbersome; and I want to be able to download pictures off my digital cameras when I'm away from home, so I don't have to delete anything when my card fills up. I may or may not want internet; I haven't decided yet.

And, so with that in mind, the decision was made, and the winner is: the Sony VAIO 505 EX. I get to pick it up tomorrow! Squeee!
