Our New Toy

This past week, the craft armoire my mom and I ordered arrived, and yesterday we put it together. We were very excited to get it all done in one day - we'd planned on splitting it up into two days, because it looked so complicated, and we thought we might have to take frequent breaks to prevent ourselves from becoming tired and pissy. All I can say is the instructions and illustrations in the booklet are fantastic, and easy to read and follow! Each step is small and not overwhelming or overly difficult. It was just so easy, I can hardly stand it! We got started about 10:30, after having some breakfast and coffee, and making a quick run to Home Depot for a smaller Phillips head screwdriver bit for our drill. After about an hour, we took a break for more coffee, and watched a little telly. We took a half hour for lunch after noon, and took periodic little breaks for water and to stretch our legs as we worked through the afternoon. In spite of all the breaks, by 5 p.m. it was finished, and we stood admiring our lovely new piece of functional furniture.

It's wonderful! There's tons of storage space (several adjustable shelves on top, and a nice pull-out shelf on the bottom), a solid, pull-out work table, and an electrical outlet with two plug-ins!

Just look at all that storage space!! We're thinking we'll be able to get all the paper, card stock, paper punches, stamp pads, pens, pencils, and Lord knows what else in there! It's awesome. Just plain awesome!

for what it's worth,
Hez

Reading: You've Got to Read This ed. by Ron Hansen. Actually we're not reading any more stories out of the book. This Wednesday is our final class, and four people (including myself) submitted stories to be work shopped, so that's pretty much all we'll have time for.

Classic Book: Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens.

Previously: Animal Farm by George Orwell.

Listening to: Sarah Kelly, Nate Sallie, Big Daddy Weave, Clay Aiken.

Writing: Nothing right now. My new story "The Charm Bracelet" will be work shopped along with three others this coming Wednesday. After that, I'm not sure. I'm taking the memoir writing class coming up next month, so I'm sure I'll be writing something again very soon.

Gratitude: Completing projects with no arguing, snippiness, or bad moods.
