Another Lame Update

There has been nothing, and I mean nothing of interest going on in my life lately. Every Monday I get up, go to work, go to Curves (or sometimes not), watch TV, eat and sleep. Repeat ad nausium through Friday. Oh, there is memoir writing class Thursday nights; not that I forgot about it, but it's fallen in with my usual routine. Weekends include a walk to Carlene's for coffee and a muffin, a trip to the grocery store, and maybe to a hardware store, and plenty of napping in the afternoon. That's about it. The days are so similar they blur together, and I'm never quite sure where I am or what I'm supposed to be doing. Hopefully this coming Weekend of Fun will break the cycle of repetition and boredom.

Friday will be a work day, although I'm taking it off from my job. Mom and I are planning on sealing the garage floor by the west wall where it leaks whenever it rains, as well as along the front where the water runs off the roof, and filling in a crack on the other side. Then we need to add another strip across the bottom of the screen door so we can keep it open this summer without fear of little critters running under the door and into the house. We also need to move the stop over about a fraction of an inch so the door doesn't rattle so much. After that we need to replace the glass dome for the light fixture over the sink in the kitched which I managed to break last week just after my mom finished cleaning it. Apparently I made one of the screws too tight, and the pressure caused the glass to blow out. Sometimes I just don't know my own strength.

Once all that home improvement stuff is done, the rest of the Memorial Day weekend is ours to do with what we want, and what we want is to spend one day at the beach (Cambria has won the toss), one day in Paso, and one day just laying around the house relaxing and resting. I don't think I could ask for a more perfect weekend!

In other news, during the past month, I spent money on stupid stuff. I ordered some clothes from Avenue and Lane Bryant, and both packages arrived late last week. I tried the clothes on, and found I only need to return or exchange a couple pieces. What was particularly nice was the one thing I'm exchanging - a denim skirt from LB - I need in a smaller size. The one shirt I'm returning, I just didn't like in real life; it looked cuter online.

I also recently purchased more books (just what I need, right!) and CDs. I picked up the new CD from New Found Glory, Catalyst - which is really, really good; I like it much better than their last CD, Sticks and Stones - and because I am American Idol's bitch, I picked up Kimberly Locke's CD, One Love - which was also really good; particularly the duet she does with Clay Aiken. If Fantasia wins (which she bloody well should!), I'll pick up her CD, too, and the one from Tamyra Gray. In unnecessary reading material I picked up Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynn Truss, Annie John by Jamaica Kindaid, The Stepford Wives by Ira Levin, and one short novel I can't recall the title or author of right now. They're all, if not short, then rumoured to be quick reads, and I'm hoping to get through at least two of them this weekend. Maybe I'll even get back into The Lovely Bones, which has been collecting dust on my nightstand since I got back from Pechanga at the end of March, along with Stiff which was amazingly too gross for me to read, and The Pickwick Papers, the classic selection I've basically given up on.

So, I guess my life is not so boring after all. Just routine. If I can break my usual weekend routine over Memorial Day, hopefully the rest of my days will follow suit.
