It Was Harder Than I Thought

box of stamps i'm getting rid of

In an effort to reduce clutter and make reorganizing and decorating the den (a/k/a The Garden Room) easier, I went through my rubber stamps again. They had been taking up space in my old six drawer dresser, which we would like to get rid of, so I needed to choose more stamps to sell on eBay.

It was harder than I thought. I remember buying each and every stamp. I remember exactly what I had planned to make with it when I bought it. I remember the pictures forming in my head as I held the stamp in the store (most likely the now-defunked Stampa Barbara, but some of them were purchased at Paws on Main in Cambria), the lavish scenes I would create. Some of the pictures I did make:

 carol snow globe

halloween night - binder cover art

taking a break - father's day card idea

… others I never got around to, but I’ve held on to the stamps just in case I one day had the time and inclination to do some stamping. That day has not come, and I finally realized, will probably never come. Not now that I’m doing so much more with my photography, and simply don’t have as much time for stamping as I used to.

But I still WANT to stamp. I realized that as I held each rubber and wood square, turning it over in my hands, remembering the first time I saw it on the shelf, imagining all the beautiful pictures and cards I would make with it. And, that’s when I decided to start my New Year’s Resolutions for 2008 (may sound strange, but it’s coming up faster than you think!), and at the very top of the list is: Hand Stamp Cards for all Holidays.

And who knows? I might even jump start that resolution and make some holiday cards for this Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Cheers!
