Saturday I rose late, had coffee and a leisurely shower in my room, and plotted what to do for the day. We were on our own until five or so when we’d head to Titletown Brewery for dinner, then to the Bad Bar for Boone’s Farm, fun and frolic. Many people were heading to High Maintenance Hamburgers, but since I’d done that last year, I decided to pass, and take a little walk around to see what Green Bay had to offer. Almost right outside the door of St. Brendan’s, right along the pathway lining the Fox river, was an interesting bright yellow sculpture:

This looked promising, so I decided to walk along the pathway and see what other art I might happen across. Damn, but it was cold! The sun was out and all, but that wind was icy! I was glad I’d brought gloves and earmuffs with me. Seeing no more pathway art, I crossed the bridge, thinking I’d hit the Broadway shopping area that was mentioned in the Con itinerary.

(Tugboats; not all that artistic, but it’s not something I see everyday.)

(Random ice sculpture; spontaneous art, or melting masterpiece?)

When I got to Broadway, however, I just wandered around. I wasn’t much in the mood for shopping (I know! All I can think is my brain must’ve been frozen!) and figured I’d just head back to the hotel where it was warm. Even if my room wasn’t ready, I figured I could at least sit in the pub and have a nice Irish coffee. As I headed up towards another bridge, however, I came upon the Neville Public Museum. Out in front were two dinosaur “skeletons”.

Inside I saw several interesting exhibits including the history of the area from the Ice Age to modern day, lots of wildlife photos, and an interesting display of work by James Audubon. One of the coolest displays was along a wall displaying photos of olde tyme Green Bay! I love looking at old pictures; seeing how people lived and dressed, what they did for fun.

After I finished in the museum, I figured I’d head back to the Inn for lunch. Along the way, I saw a couple war memorials:

One for September 11th:

And another war memorial (not sure what war):

Back at St. Brendan’s, I enjoyed a delicious lunch, then rested in my room until it was time to meet up for the trip to Titletown and later the Bad Bar!

That night at the Bad Bar (which is really called Harry the Hipster’s), we drank pretty drinks and passed around bottles of Boone’s Farm wine (then some of us bought our own bottle and drank that, too!), we danced in the window, played several rounds of “Drink Bitch!”, and talked and laughed and enjoyed ourselves. And that’s what WeetaPieCon is all about: friends, fun and booze.
