Okay, so I decided to revamp my New Year’s Resolutions. The ones I initially came up with were done hastily and without much thought. Since then, I’ve thought about what I’d really like to accomplish this year, and while a couple of them are the same, I came up with three more meaningful resolutions – and one I stole from a friend of mine. Hopefully she won’t mind!
1. Have a more positive attitude. Be happier, be kinder to people (even in my thoughts), and smile more.
2. Write at least 100 Words a day. Journal entry, poetry, short story, haiku – doesn’t matter; just write everyday.
3. Take a minimum of 4 new photographs every week. Also, display a different photo before each journal entry – even if it’s an older one.
4. Write (snail mail) to friends and family at least once a month – include personalized hand-stamped greeting cards and/or pretty pictures. I’m finding that many of my “older” friends (as well as elderly family members) either don’t have e-mail, or don’t seem to have time for it. Sadly I’ve lost touch with most of them because of my obsessive preferred use of e-mail, so, inspired by another friend’s New Year’s Resolution, I decided to reconnect with people from my past via snail mail.
5. Lower cholesterol via diet and exercise.
6. Do at least one fun thing once per month (not counting WeetaCon, JournalCon and ThellyCon). As I mentioned in the previous Resolutions entry, even something as simple as having lunch in a nice bistro or trying a new Sauvignon Blanc in a wine bar in Paso, or walking along the boardwalk in Cambria – it doesn’t have to be a big thing – just something to get me out of the house and having a good time.
